The Cause

During September 2016, the building of a series of hydroelectric power plants started on the rivers inside the National Park of Valbona. These actions were opposed by environmental activists.

The Message

As an act of protest, jazz artists Elina Duni and Eda Zari, together with a group of fellow musicians organised a protest concert where the message “Don’t Touch Valbona” was publicly called.
A visual identity that recalls hand written protest cards, served as means of communication in the social media and meeting points in Tirana, Pristina, Prizren, Gjakovë, Shkodër, etc.

One year later, an environmental NGO reported facing censorship and threats of legal action from one of the involved corporations. In the meanwhile, the cause for Valbona National Park was risking to fade in silence. As a response, together with Collective 68, we created a campaign that extended from CT-lights and print, to web, where important information was disseminated in a Q&A format.

In 2018, once again with Elina Duni, Eda Zari and a group of artists, we produced the music video “Lum Lumi i Lirë”, with the message “Your voice is heard too, if you join the protests for the Albanian rivers”. The video reached instant social media traction.
